Butterflies and Boats

I've been planning the next two projects for stamp camp.  For one project, I decided we'd make a matchbook sticky-note holder.  I got the instructions from the May Stampin' Up magazine, Stampin' Success.

The picture shows what I decided we'd make in class.  The "matchbook" opens and there is a sticky note pad in there.  It's perfect for a small gift, to keep on your desk, or even to keep in your purse.  I used the Big Shot to emboss the front.  I love using my newest "toy," the Big Shot.  The yellow (cardstock and stamp pad ink) is one of the new colors this year, Summer Starfruit.


We'll also make a masculine birthday card in class.  I ordered The Open Sea stamp set this afternoon, so it should be here in time for me to design the card and for us to use in class.  It'll be something like the masculine cards I've pictured below:

Back from New York

Being HUGE fans of the TV show Survivor, we were thrilled when one of this season's contestants turned out to be someone who worked for our son.  We got to meet Michael Jefferson a couple months ago.  He had two extra tickets to the finale of Survivor in New York City, so we couldn't pass up the chance to go to the live show.  It turned out that we were on TV in the background when they showed the wife of one of the contestants, Leif.  Very cool.  To thank Michael, I made a never-ending thank you card.

Here is the front of the card.  You'll notice I stamped different ways to say "thank you" throughout the card.  That's Michael in the picture.

 As you open the front of the card, I put more pictures on the inside:

 Below is what Michael will see when he opens the card:

The top right has a picture of the buff after the tribes merge.  The bottom left is the buff of the men's team at the beginning of the season.
Now the card opens again from the center as you see below.

When the card is opened this time, you'll see some different photos.  One photo is of all the Survivors at the finale.  The center photos were taken during the game.  The left is when Mike and his tribe won a reward challenge.  The other one is of Big Mike carrying a large block in a challenge.

But wait, there's more!  The card opens again to the next panel that continues to thank Mike.  Hey, we really appreciated that he gave us the tickets.  Tickets to the season finale are hard to get.

Now, incredibly enough, the card again folds to another side -- the beginning.  It'll just keep folding and showing all four sides.

I found the directions to make the never-ending card on the web.  I just Googled "never-ending card directions" and had my pick of instructions.

Sadly, Mike didn't win.  He did make it to the jury, though. 

I used Twitterpated Designer Series Paper on this card.  I got all the pictures from the Internet. 

Easy-to-Make Cards

I'm having a group over in May to do some stamping.  I made the two cards below as possible cards that we'll make.  Simple and pretty.  I used my Big Shot to embellish the polka dots on the purple card.

The second card is another simple, clean-looking card.

Both cards were made using the Easy Events stamp set.  I'm glad it's not retiring and will be in the next catalog (coming out June 1).

Just-for-Fun Cards

My second stamp camp is coming up on Monday and Tuesday, so below is one of the cards we'll be doing.  It's a pinwheel card and is fun to make.  I made several sample pinwheels to show folks.  I even put a button in the center of one pinwheel.

Yesterday I went to Pennie's house.  Pennie is my "upline" (the demonstrator who recruited me). She showed me a few different techniques and made the cards below.  It was a fun afternoon.  Thanks, Pennie.

Pennie showed me how to use the Stampin' Up brayer to make this green card.  It is a new technique for me to try.

The card above was fairly simple to make and used the Summer Smooches stamp set.  Pennie then used iridescent ice embossing powder over the stamped design.  It sparkles!  To visit Pennie's blog and see more of her designs, go to http://penniemccallum.typepad.com/stamping_with_pennie/ .

Attic Windows Revisited

Hi.  I was so excited yesterday when my Big Shot was delivered by the UPS man only to realize the rest of my order (including an embossing folder for the Big Shot) wasn't with it.  So, I have a brand new Big Shot and can't use it yet.  The rest of my order will arrive tomorrow, so in the meantime I decided to try my hand once again at making a card using the attic windows quilt pattern.

I used brads from the Sale-a-bration catalog, so they are no longer available.
Cardstock used:  River Rock, Soft Suede, and Chocolate Chip
Designer Series Paper:  Paisley Petals
Stamp set:  Just Believe

I sponged the background so it looks like a late afternoon sun out the windows.

For those of you who don't know what a Big Shot machine is, it will cut perfect shapes from many different materials (including fabric) and it also will emboss paper quickly and easily.

Teabag Cards

I decided that at my next stamp camp, we'd make a teabag card.  I made the one below using the Tea Shoppe stamp set.

I like it, but I decided to do something different.  I used the Morning Cup stamp set to do a card in gray and red.  The center circle is punched with the teapot recessed.  I really like this card and thought I had the one we'd do in class.

 Below is the inside of the card.  I put the white paper in the card so the card can be signed.

So, did I find the one to do in the class?  No.  I wanted to try another arrangement I have seen done by others many times.  I thought I'd do my own version of it (choose different colors and papers).  I used the Tea Shoppe stamp set once again.

 Here's the inside.  I think I like this one, and it'll be the one we do in the class.

Okay, so I did one more just as an experiment.  I love sponging and I love the sunset look, so I tried my hand at at.  I'm not so sure it's great, but there is something I like about the card below.  I used my favorite stamp set, Just Believe, to do this one.

It's a teabag holder card -- or will be once I finish the inside.  I was just experimenting with color and arrangement on this one.  

Springtime

There are two cards I'd like to share with you.  I made both of these in the last week or so.

Having been a quilter for thirty years, I took my inspiration from a well-loved quilt pattern, the attic windows.  I used the new Bright Blossoms stamp set. 

One day last week, I came across the directions to make these fun ice cream cones that Theresa Momber posted on her website at
http://craftingtheweb.blogspot.com/search?q=scallop+punch+ice+cream+cone+card .  I liked them so much that I had to try my hand at making these cones.  Cute, aren't they?
