Convention and Cards

The photo below is a picture of the convention crowd of demonstrators when the doors opened.  Yes, it made me think of sardines.  We certainly were packed in there -- and I was somewhere in the midst of that crowd.  There were almost 6,000 demonstrators at the convention.

Before the convention began, I did a tour of the Stampin' Up! home office.  I took the photo below there.

The kite card below is one we made in my stamp camp last month. I used the directions a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Kelly Gettelfinger, provided.  Her website is filled with many great ideas and videos:  http://alwaysstampin.blogspot.com/

I love the sympathy card below.  I totally copied it from Brian King, a Stampin' Up! demo.  I met Brian at the convention and told him how I had a downline meeting and we made the card exactly like his example.  He told me that he got a lot of great feedback about this card -- simple and gorgeous.  His website is at http://stampwithbrian.com/  if you want to see more of his work.

That's all I have for you today.  I'm looking forward to getting together with my my wonderful upline (I so appreciate all you've taught me, Pennie) today to look at all the swaps we both got from convention.

New Blog Hop, New Cards, & Record-Breaking Hot Weather

Hi,

The Hoppers' August Blog Hop is over, but I thought I'd share the card I had posted.

I chose the real red/pumpkin pie/early espresso combination for my autumn-themed card.  I used the baby-wipe technique where I put drops of the three colors on a moist baby wipe and used that as my stamp pad.  The leaves have all three colors.

Products used:

Paper:  Whisper White, Early Espresso, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie
Punches:  Large Oval, Small Oval
Stamp Sets:  Lovely as a Tree, Full of Blessings (from the Holiday Catalog)
Tools:  Big Shot
Embossing Folder:  Perfect Polka Dots

I changed one of the sympathy card designs for my upcoming stamp camp.  Since we'll be making two sympathy cards, the second one will be the one pictured below.

I like the simplicity of it and think it'll be an easy card to make in class.

Speaking of stamp camp, we'll also make some Christmas tags.  Below are three that we'll be making in class.  Cute and fun to make.  Does it get any better than that?

This last weekend was hot for the Seattle area.  I saw in today's paper that we broke a temperature record for yesterday.  Today is ten degrees cooler, so it's quite pleasant outside.  I'm sure glad the garbage strike is over.  Trash piling up with record-breaking heat isn't a good combo...

Thanks for stopping by.

Sympathy Cards

It's always good to have a couple sympathy cards on hand, so we'll make two in the next stamp camp in August.  I used the Love & Sympathy stamp set.

On the second sympathy card, I used the Lovely as a Tree stamp set for the tree.

The card below is a wedding card I made for the blog hop for July.

The wedding card was inspired by one I saw on the Stampin' Connection, a Stampin' Up! website for demonstrators. Shelly Johnson posted the original card.  It's hard to see in this photo, but I embossed the bride's dress and put five pearls down the front.

Products used:

Paper:  Brushed Silver, Whisper White, & Basic Black cardstock, Twitterpated DSP
Punches:  Heart, 1 1/4" circle, and 1 3/8" circle
Stamp Set:  Petite Pairs
Accessories:  Pearl Basic Jewels
Embossing Folder:  Vintage Wallpaper

As always, thanks for visiting my blog.
